Criminal Law

Criminal law deals with crimes and their punishment. It has two main categories of offenses: felonies and misdemeanors. Felonies are serious crimes such as murder, robbery, and arson, and are punished by imprisonment for more than a year or even death. Misdemeanors are less serious crimes such as traffic violations or petty thefts, and are punished by fines, community service, or imprisonment for less than a year.
